How to reply to a price inquiry
You get a friendly reply to a customer who asks about your prices, ready to paste into email, text, or Instagram. It takes about 2 minutes with the free version of ChatGPT. You fill in your price list once, paste the customer's message, and check every number before sending.

What you need
- A free ChatGPT account
- Your price list or price ranges, typed as plain text
- The customer's message, copied as text
- Your next open appointment times
Copy this prompt
You are the owner of a small [type of business, e.g. hair salon]. A customer sent me the message below. Write a friendly reply in under 80 words. Use only the prices and times I give you. Do not invent discounts, extras, or availability. End with one clear question that moves them toward booking. My prices: [paste your price list or ranges] Open times this week: [list 2 or 3 times] Customer message: [paste message here]
Steps
- Type your prices once into a note so you can paste them each time.
- Open ChatGPT, paste the prompt above, and replace the words in [brackets].
- Read the reply. If the tone is off, say “warmer” or “shorter” and it will redo it.
- Fix any number, then send it from your own phone or inbox.
Test it yourself (5 minutes)
- Make up a business and a price list with 3 services.
- Send the prompt with this made-up customer message: “Hi, how much for a haircut and color? Also do you have anything Saturday?”
- Run it twice. Note any price or time the AI got wrong or invented.
- Write what you changed in the reply. It shows you which parts of an AI reply to check first next time.
Check this yourself
- Every price matches your own list.
- Only the times you listed are offered.
- It does not promise a discount or extra you did not choose.
- It sounds like you. Change any line that does not.
Mistakes and limits
- AI may round, change, or invent a price. Compare every number with your own list.
- It does not know what you are booked for. Never let it promise a time you did not give it.
- Do not paste the customer's phone number or address into any AI tool.
Variations
- Add: "Keep it under 50 words" for text messages.
- Add: "Offer a free 10-minute call instead of a price" for jobs that need a look first.
